Three runners-up have gone on to win the next year - Seve Ballesteros (1987-1988), Dennis Paulson (1999-2000), and Padraig Harrington(2004-2005). The course record in this event at Ridgewood Country Club is 62 by Hunter Mahan in the first round in 2008.
