So since that first cut in 1957, the cut rule has been tweaked only a couple times. The first change came with the 1961 Masters. Beginning that year, the cut was to the Top 44 (rather than Top 40) plus ties and those within 10 of the lead. That rule remained in effect through the 2012 tournament.
