European captain Annika Sorenstam played coy and wouldnt divulge her strategy. In the end, all 12 players from both sides will play in at least one match during the first day of the Solheim Cup at Des Moines Golf and Country Club. Michelle Wie will pair with good friend and Women's PGA Championship winner Danielle Kang to start off for the Americans in afternoon fourball matches. They will play Madelene Sagstrom and Jodi Ewart Shadoff, who both sat out the morning.

Carlota Ciganda will pair with rookie Emily Pedersen. They will play against U.S. rookie Angel Yin and Lizette Salas, who won her morning foursomes match with Kang. European rookie Florentyna Parker will play with Caroline Masson and go against Brittany Lang and Brittany Lincicome. Charley Hull and Georgia Hall will play the anchor match against Stacy Lewis and Gerina Piller. For Europe, Mel Reid, Anna Nordqvist, Karine Icher and Catriona Matthew will sit out. Paula Creamer, Austin Ernst, Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson will sit for the Americans.
